Become A Youth Ambassador

The cornerstone mission of the Get In Touch Foundation is the Get In Touch Girls’ Program, which teaches girls grades 5-12 the importance of, and how to do a breast self exam – for life. The Get In Touch Youth Ambassador Program empowers high school girls as representatives of The Get In Touch Foundation to promote the Get In Touch Girls’ Program to their schools and local community.

Who is eligible to be a Get In Touch Youth Ambassador?

All high school girls grades 9-11 are eligible to self-nominate.

(The term begins the following school year, which is why only girls in grades 9-11 can apply.)

Why would I want to be a Get In Touch Youth Ambassador?

  1. Because you believe in the mission of The Get In Touch Foundation and want to do your part to promote the Get In Touch Girls’ Program in your community.
  2. To develop leadership skills, and hey, let’s face it, this will look great on your resume when applying to college!
  3. You’ll be eligible for the School Health/Get In Touch Youth Ambassador  $10,000 Collegiate Scholarship*!!!  Sweet!  (Click here to learn more about this fabulous opportunity!)

What exactly do I have to do as a Get In Touch Youth Ambassador?

There are two main responsibilities during your one-year term as a GITYA:

  1. To introduce the Get In Touch Girls’ Program to your school (if it isn’t already being implemented there) and to other schools in your community.
  2. Raise a minimum of $1,000 for the Get In Touch Foundation, helping us continue to provide our program for free to schools across the globe.

How do I introduce the GIT Girls’ Program to my school and other schools?

We will provide you with several informational packets for you to distribute to schools and/or school nurses; we just ask you to let us know who you’ve given them to.

How do I raise $1,000?

We will provide each GITYA with an assortment of FUNdraising ideas, and will also provide you with contact information for your very own Get In Touch Youth Ambassador Liaison.  Your liaison will be available to help address any questions or concerns you may have in meeting your goal.

Can you give me some FUNdraising suggestions right now?

Of course! Our most popular is “GIT Your Pink On!®” Day.  We have a really cool flyer that can be personalized with your school’s name, and even a different date, if our October date doesn’t work for you. We also have our “Laces For Lana” Campaign, pink shoelaces that are available for you to sell for $5 apiece.  The laces are great to sell at school sporting events, or even to your friends and family!
